Why Our Water Removal Equipment is Right for Your Field
Coaches and groundskeepers know that standing water is the ultimate enemy of a playable infield. Pushing water around with brooms or rakes ruins your expensive infield mix, while sweeping puddles into the outfield grass creates muddy, dangerous divots. You need specialized tools that physically remove the water from the playing surface without damaging the delicate grading underneath. Our 2026 collection focuses on heavy-duty, commercial-grade water removal systems that literally sponge or vacuum water off the field, preserving your pristine diamond and preventing costly game cancellations.
Top-Tier Puddle Removal Gear for Groundskeepers
We stock industry-leading water removal tools to ensure your maintenance crew has exactly what they need to battle the elements.
- Super Soppers: The ultimate solution for large-scale water removal. Available in both the high-capacity Dolphin and the mid-size Mackerel models, these rolling sponge drums literally drink up standing water from grass, artificial turf, and dirt. As you push the drum, the heavy-duty foam pad absorbs the puddle and squeezes the water into an internal holding tank, allowing you to wheel the water entirely off the field to be dumped.
- Filter Cloths: When using a Super Sopper on a dirt infield, we highly recommend utilizing a 15' x 20' Filter Cloth. Lay the porous cloth over the muddy puddle before rolling the Sopper over it; the cloth allows the water to pass through into the sponge while keeping your expensive infield dirt and top-dressing exactly where it belongs.
- The Diamond Pump: Need to clear a deep, isolated puddle near the pitcher's mound, home plate, or dugout? The Diamond Pump is a heavy-duty, manually operated suction pump that pulls water directly out of the dirt and disperses it safely away from the playing surface using an attachable Diamond Pump Hose.
- Replacement Parts: We ensure your investment lasts for seasons to come by offering exact-fit Replacement Foam Pads for both the Dolphin and Mackerel Super Soppers, keeping your rollers absorbing at maximum capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does a Super Sopper work?
A Super Sopper is a large, rolling drum covered in a highly absorbent foam pad. As you roll it over a puddle, the foam absorbs the water. As the drum rotates, a squeegee mechanism inside the machine presses against the foam, squeezing the collected water directly into a suspended internal holding tank. Once the tank is full, you simply wheel the machine off the field and open the valve to drain the water.
2. What is the difference between the Dolphin and Mackerel Super Soppers?
The primary difference is their size and water-holding capacity. The Dolphin is the larger model, designed with a wider drum and a larger internal tank, making it ideal for massive fields and heavy downpours. The Mackerel is slightly smaller and more maneuverable, perfect for standard infields, tennis courts, and tighter spaces.
3. Why do I need a Filter Cloth when drying a dirt infield?
If you roll a foam sponge directly into a muddy dirt puddle, the sponge will absorb the dirt along with the water, severely clogging the foam and removing expensive infield mix from your diamond. Laying a 15' x 20' Filter Cloth over the puddle acts as a barrier. It lets the clean water soak up through the fabric into the Sopper, leaving the dirt perfectly intact on the field.
4. How does the Diamond Pump work?
The Diamond Pump is a heavy-duty manual pump designed specifically for baseball fields. You place the base of the pump directly into the deepest part of the puddle. As you plunge the handle up and down, it acts like a vacuum, sucking the water up and shooting it out through an attached discharge hose, effectively moving the water completely off the infield without digging any trenches.
5. How often do I need to replace the foam pad on my Super Sopper?
The lifespan of the foam pad depends entirely on how frequently it is used and whether it is properly cleaned and stored out of direct sunlight after use. However, once the foam begins to flake, tear, or lose its spongy absorbency, it is time to install one of our Replacement Foam Pads to restore the machine's efficiency.
6. Do you accept school purchase orders for field maintenance equipment?
Absolutely. Morley Athletic has worked directly with schools and universities for over nine decades. We happily accept school purchase orders. Athletic directors and head groundskeepers can easily submit a formal PO to purchase Super Soppers, Diamond Pumps, field drags, and base anchors for their entire athletic complex.
