Collection: Shot Put Toe Boards | Competition & Practice Rings

Hold the line and make every throw count with the professional shot put toe boards available at Morley Athletic. As the boundary between a legal mark and a foul, your toe board needs to be as sturdy as the athletes using it. Explore our selection of NFHS and NCAA compliant boards from industry leaders like Blazer, Gill, and UCS, featuring high-density polyethylene and cast aluminum designs that stand up to high-velocity impacts and the toughest weather conditions.

The Precision of the Ring: Choosing Your Toe Board
In the shot put, the toe board (or stop board) is the final point of contact before a throw is marked. For athletic directors and facility managers, the goal is to install a board that provides maximum stability without becoming a maintenance headache. Our collection focuses on institutional-grade durability, ensuring that your throwing sector remains compliant with the latest world-class standards. Whether you are pouring a new concrete circle or refreshing an existing varsity stadium, we provide the hardware necessary to keep your "big throws" official.

Materials Engineered for Longevity
We stock specifically chosen toe boards to ensure your program has the best equipment for both training and championship meets.

  • Cast Aluminum Boards: The gold standard for collegiate and professional facilities. These boards are virtually indestructible, won't rust, and provide a rigid, professional feel for the athlete.
  • High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE): A popular choice for high schools and middle schools. These boards are "color-molded" all the way through, meaning they won't show chips or scratches, and they are completely resistant to rot and moisture.
  • Regulation Compliance: Every board in our inventory is designed to meet NFHS and NCAA specifications, featuring the standard 4-inch height and a 4-foot arc length.
  • Replacement Hardware: A toe board is only as good as its anchors. We carry replacement bolt kits and ground sleeves to ensure your board stays flush with the circle, preventing trip hazards and ensuring accurate measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the standard height of a shot put toe board?
According to both NFHS and NCAA rules, a shot put toe board must be 4 inches high (measured from the inside of the ring). The arc should be 4 feet long along the inside edge and must be painted white to provide a clear visual for officials checking for fouls.

2. Should I choose Aluminum or Polyethylene?
Aluminum is more rigid and is the preferred choice for high-level competition; it will last decades but is a higher initial investment. Polyethylene (Plastic) is more cost-effective, won't rust or rot, and is slightly more forgiving if a thrower’s foot makes heavy contact. Both are legal for sanctioned high school meets.

3. Do you sell toe boards for Discus?
Actually, a standard discus circle does not use a raised toe board. The discus ring is a flat circle marked only by a line. If you see a toe board, it is exclusively for the shot put. However, we do sell the metal circle rims used for both shot and discus installations.

4. How do you install a new toe board?
Most toe boards are bolted directly into the concrete apron of the throwing circle using anchor bolts. For permanent installations, we recommend using stainless steel hardware to prevent rust. Some of our models are designed to fit specific ground sleeves, allowing the board to be removed during the off-season.

5. Are the boards pre-painted?
Yes. Our competition boards come in a bright, weather-resistant white finish. However, because they are high-impact areas, we recommend having a can of white athletic field paint on hand to "touch up" the board before major meets to ensure the officials have a crisp line to judge.

6. Do you accept school purchase orders for field equipment?
Absolutely. Morley Athletic has worked directly with schools and universities for over nine decades. We happily accept school purchase orders. Athletic directors and coaches can easily submit a formal PO to purchase toe boards, cages, implements, and carts for their entire program.
