Why Our Windscreens are Right for Your Field
Coaches and groundskeepers understand that an exposed chain-link fence can cause major problems during a game. Swirling crosswinds disrupt pitch trajectories and fly balls, while background movement outside the stadium makes it incredibly difficult for batters to pick up the ball out of the pitcher's hand. Our 2026 collection focuses strictly on institutional-grade fence screens. We prioritize heavy-duty PVC-coated polyester meshes, reinforced hems with brass grommets, and customizable privacy levels that instantly transform a basic community park into a professional-caliber athletic complex.

Top-Tier Privacy and Wind Control for Your Outfield
We offer specific fabric weights and weaves to ensure your facility gets exactly the right level of wind blockage and visual privacy.

  • ArmorMesh & Closed Mesh Screens: For maximum privacy and an elite visual backdrop (batter's eye), the ArmorMesh VCP18x18 Premium Mesh and standard Closed Mesh Windscreens are unbeatable. They block up to 80-90% of wind and visibility, providing a solid, dark background so your hitters can track incoming pitches perfectly.
  • Open Mesh & High-Wind Solutions: If your stadium sits in an open plain or coastal area subject to heavy gusts, standard screens act like a sail and can literally rip your fence out of the ground. Our Open Mesh Windscreens are explicitly designed to allow more airflow while still providing visual contrast. We also offer installable Boxed Air Vents that can be cut into any screen to safely relieve extreme wind pressure.
  • Customization & Branding: Turn a blank fence into a statement of team pride. We offer Block Style Lettering options that can be applied directly to your windscreen, allowing you to proudly display your school name, mascot, or championship years across your outfield.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between an Open Mesh and Closed Mesh windscreen?
A "Closed Mesh" screen has a very tight weave, blocking out approximately 80% to 90% of wind and visibility. It creates the best solid background (batter's eye) but catches a lot of wind. An "Open Mesh" screen has a looser weave, allowing about 30% to 50% of the wind to pass right through it. It is strongly recommended for chain-link fences in high-wind areas to prevent structural fence damage.

2. How are these windscreens sold and priced?
Because every baseball and softball field is uniquely sized, our windscreens are sold and priced by the square foot. You simply provide us with the exact height and length of the fence panels you want to cover, and we custom-cut and hem the material to match your facility's exact dimensions.

3. What are "Air Vents" and do I need them?
Air vents (often called wind windows or box vents) are holes cut into the fabric of the screen and reinforced with heavy stitching. If your field is located in an area known for severe wind gusts, you should absolutely add air vents to your order. They relieve the immense "sail" pressure that a solid screen puts on your metal fence posts.

4. How is the windscreen attached to the fence?
All of our commercial windscreens feature heavy-duty reinforced hems lined with rust-resistant brass grommets. The screen is attached to the chain-link fence by weaving heavy-duty industrial UV-resistant zip ties or galvanized hog rings through the grommets and directly around the fence wire.

5. What is the "Batter's Eye" and why does it matter?
The batter's eye is the visual area directly behind the center-field fence in the batter's line of sight. If this area is visually "busy" (e.g., passing cars, walking pedestrians, or light-colored buildings), batters cannot safely see a white baseball traveling at 80+ MPH. A dark (usually black or dark green) closed-mesh windscreen creates a solid, contrasting backdrop that makes the ball easily visible out of the pitcher's hand.

6. Do you accept school purchase orders for custom windscreens?
Absolutely. Morley Athletic has worked directly with schools and universities for over nine decades. We happily accept school purchase orders. Athletic directors and facility managers can easily submit a formal PO to purchase custom-cut windscreens, field tarps, foul poles, and dugout benches for their entire athletic complex.
